Wear Plate Fabrication — NM400, NM450, NM500 and Comparable Grades
Wear plate is easy to buy and easy to ruin. Most of the value we add is in not overheating it.
Grades we work with
| Grade | Comparable to | Typical hardness (HBW) | We process |
|---|---|---|---|
| NM360 | 360-class wear plate | ~360 | cut to 40 mm |
| NM400 | 400-class wear plate | ~400 | cut to 40 mm |
| NM450 | 450-class wear plate | ~450 | cut to 40 mm |
| NM500 | 500-class wear plate | ~500 | cut to 40 mm |
What we control
Preheat according to grade, thickness and joint restraint. Heat input kept inside the range the plate can take without losing hardness in the heat-affected zone. Cutting method chosen so the cut edge does not become the crack starter.
We do not weld across a wear face if the design lets us move the joint. If it doesn't, we will say so.
Processing notes
| Minimum bend radius | 1.5–4 × t, grade dependent |
| Bend direction | Transverse to rolling direction only where the drawing allows |
| Preheat | Per EN 1011-2, grade and thickness dependent |
| Machining | Carbide tooling; expect longer cycle times than S355 |
Certificates and classification
EN 10204 2.2, 3.1 as standard, 3.2 on request. Parts in this family usually classify under CN 7308 / 7326 — see what we can document for CBAM.
Materials and fabrication are supplied according to your drawings and specified standards. Grade equivalency is subject to chemical composition, mechanical properties, impact requirements, heat-treatment condition, thickness range and project-specific approvals. We do not claim any grade to be fully identical to another on the basis of designation alone.
